Resetting the puzzle

The combination lock

The combination lock should be in the open position but just in case one of the wheels has turned the code word is 'RAPID MELON'

The hand written note from 'Blake' should be folded into eights with the printed words 'PMLIEDONRA' on the outside of the fold. This gets placed into the sliding tray and locked into the base plate

The locking plate can be slide into the closed position and all the dials rotated so that the arrow is pointing upwards

Finally the tool can be placed back into the hole. The narrow end wedges gently into the base and this keeps it in place when the puzzle is turned upside down

The letter tray

It doesn't really matter which way round the columns in the tray go because the puzzle is to work that out, they should be placed in an order where none of the code words are spelled in the top row

I ensure that all the puzzles are identical when they go out by spelling a word across the middle of the puzzle, some of you may have already noticed that line five can spell out 'MRaynsford'

To keep all the letters in the tray simply keep the tray the right way up, put the base on top of it and slide it into location

The locking bar

There is no shortcut to reinserting the locking bar, you have to work it through the marble maze in reverse.

The marble maze is a complete reverse, like a Palindrome, the same forward as backward so if you get stuck you can use the same solution but with steps 13-n instead

There is a small ball bearing which sits in the slot of the locking bar as it navigates through the maze.

The first step is to insert the bar all the way to the end, if you can do this without bumping up against the bearing then the ball is in the correct place.

If the bar hits the bearing and won't slide all the way in, you need to remove the bar and tip the puzzle so that the word 'start' is on the bottom side, this will encourage the ball to fall into the single hole at the bottom of the puzzle

Once the bar is all the way in, turn the puzzle upside down (so that the arrows point down) and slowly draw the bar out until the ball bearings drops into the slot (position 13), from there you can work the bearing back through the maze until the bar is all the way in again and the puzzle is locked.
